  13. By the way, if you have AFM files with names like pplr.afm,
  14. and want to rename them to the full PostScript FontName
  15. (with a symbolic link to the fontname-1.6 short name)
  16. I can provide you with a well tested script that does just
  17. that.  I acknowledge the convenience of short names
  18. from the programming standpoint, but I can never adequately recall
  19. what they mean.  So my AFM farm has all the afms actually identified
  20. by their fully qualified PostScript fontname. (GoudyOldStyleBT-BoldItalic.afm)
  21. At the present time, there is no general way to
  22. get the PostScript FontName out of a tfm file, however.  The FontName
  23. would have to be recorded as a TFM comment.  That does not
  24. happen at present.  Perhaps it should.  A small adjustment
  25. to "afm2tfm" would provide for it.
